How do I start building my portfolio?
Marchant Group will have a discussion with you to get a good understanding of what you want from your investment. We will discuss your financial objectives, how much you would like to invest and how long you will be holding your investment for. This information will then enable us to introduce you to products right for your portfolio.
I am an experienced investor, but art is new to me. Is this a problem?
No, absolutely not. Marchant Group have a team of experienced advisors who can help you make an informed decision about which artworks to add to your portfolio. You will no doubt find your interest and knowledge grows when you start building your portfolio.
What are the costs?
Marchant Group charge a 10% management fee on all purchases which covers ongoing advice, and guidance, the sourcing, buying and selling of your artwork and storage and insurance of your investment. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.
Are there any risks?
All investments carry risk and prices may go up as well and down. We recommend you seek financial advice before investing.
How long do I need to hold my piece for?
An investment within the art market should be viewed as mid to long term. This will depend on the particular artwork you have purchased. Generally, we recommend holding for at least 3 – 5 years.
How do I sell my product?
Your advisor will update you on the performance and demand of your works. If you wish to sell, your advisor will discuss your options in the current market place and will then broker your product on your behalf.
Investors are reminded not to commit to capital which they need access to quickly.
Where will my product be stored?
If you have the space and can keep your artwork in good condition, we recommend you take delivery of your art. After all, the benefit of owning art is being able to enjoy and display it within your home, Alternatively, we can organize any purchase to be stored within our trusted art facilities.
